Nigel Mayberry is a Pacific Northwest multimedia artist residing in Port Townsend, Washington. Using collage as a medium, he wishes to express poetic, visually symbolic images creating narratives of mortality; of transformation, the human condition, and our symbiotic relationship with nature. Nigel worked for nearly 20 years in Healthcare, both as Registered Nurse in internal medicine and cardiology, and, later, as a Harm Reductionist, Researcher and Intervention Nurse with chronically unhoused substance users. Several recurring themes arise through his art, drawn from his own life experiences of death, trauma, and loss, and from those whom he has cared for professionally. He encourages the viewer to contemplate one’s relationship with nature as a creator and destructor. His hope is that viewers ponder the disparity between hope and futility, and reflect on the fleetingness of life.
